Babybuzz held a photo contest for the Most Beautiful Belly Contest. Judy Dang, whom I shot maternity photos for last year had submitted one of the photos I took of her and little Natalie. Well, turns out the photo made it as one of the top ten finalists in Babybuzz’s Beautiful Belly Contest! The winning photo was announced today and Judy won! She receives a $50 BabyBuzz gift certificate to spend on herself, Natalie and baby Kylie! I’m super excited for them! Congratulations Judy!!!
Not the typical Saturday spent at the movies or other such things. Nope. Not even close. Try a Saturday with a dark haired, blue-eyed beauty, a talented hair stylist, and a superb make-up artist in a niche of the Hayward hills. Justina did a great job with the hair, as always, and even added a little touch of her crafty side with mini top hats adorned with feathers and pearls. Tiffany went for the subtle but still stellar eye makeup with a kick of red lipstick. All was picture-perfect! Once make-up and hair were done, we headed to Bijou Restaurant and Bar to set up shoot.
Owner Benjamin Young was more than accommodating and was delighted to have us shoot at his wonderful restaurant, which serves up “contemporary French/California cuisine, offered at reasonable prices, prepared by Executive Chef Christian Nam-Hee using seasonal, fresh and often locally sourced, organic ingredients.” After the shoot, we delighted in a cocktail perfectly dubbed “Strawberry Fields Forever” containing “fresh strawberries and fresh basil from the garden, barenjager Honey Liqueur for some subtle honey flavor, locally distilled 20 Gin and hand pressed orange and lemon juices” – a concoction I definitely recommend!
Ann and Hung, a very sweet couple and friends for almost forever, were wedded on October 17th, 2009. Their wedding was simple and fun, consisting of only a reception dinner at the 888 Seafood Restaurant in Rosemead, CA.
All the guests seemed to have reveled in pleasant libations. I think seeing the wedding singer getting deep into his song was my favorite photo of the night.
Also, thank you to Jim for accompanying me on this trip 🙂
Day One of Round One is complete for a series of shots for my upcoming exhibition in November 2009. Melisha and Tiffany did an excellent job today. Many many thanks.

My blog is relatively new and is in need of update from past events, starting first with my trip to New York with Mark Sebastian, Simpson Yiu and Jackie Martinez back in September 2007. Long story short, the four of us headed to grand old New York City on business to meet celebrity photographer Markus Klinko. We had the honor of staying at the Tribeca Grand Hotel for a weekend. Our itinerary included dinner plans with Markus Klinko at EN Japanese Brasserie, random street shoots with Jackie, a happenstance meeting with a timid greyhound that had once modeled in Elle magazine, and random excursions around the big city. It definitely was a memorable adventure filled with interesting characters and humorous stories. You can view the slideshow with more photos below:

Mark, Simpson and I decided to start shooting Jackie in the middle of Times Square and all of a sudden a crowd of people start forming a line to take pictures with Jackie. A phrase from a side conversation I overheard between a girlfriend and her boyfriend: “She ain’t no model! She just look GOOD!” says girlfriend. Boyfriend lines up to take a photo with Jackie regardless of girlfriend’s comment. Photo by Simpson Yiu.
