pura vida

Throughout Costa Rica, “pura vida” is an expression used to describe a way of life. There is satisfaction, happiness, peace and the warmth of home in this beautiful country. My trip here over the winter is one that I will never forget.

Blankets of sugar cane fields can be found throughout this diverse little country.

Each day had the most beautiful closure, sunsets that could leave you speechless.

Home for the holidays

Of course, I couldn’t resist snapping a few shots during the holidays. Christmas this year was in Florida again. Too bad the weather was not as warm as previous years. Anyhow, here are a couple photos from Christmas where I am. Hope everyone is enjoying the holidays with their loved ones.

It’s not Christmas without all the holiday decorations 🙂

Kiko is sound asleep… as she is most of the days.

Looking for trouble nonetheless.

If you haven’t tried Samuel Adams’ Utopias, I highly recommend it. “Not just unlike any other beer but unlike any other beverage in the world… having been aged up to 16 years in the barrel room of our Boston Brewery, in a variety of woods… This flavorful, slightly fruity brew has a sweet, malty flavor that is reminiscent of a deep, rich vintage port, fine cognac or aged sherry.”

Ahh… Christmas dinner.

… And Christmas food coma.

Merry Christmas to each and every one of us!

wedding | anne + sugi

What a nice way to end the wedding season, then with a holiday wedding. Anne and Sugi were married on December 18, 2010 and Christmas decorations at the Santa Clara Marriott added a cozy holiday feel to their special day. The gingerbread display in the hotel lobby was a photo delight for me especially.

Stay tuned for more photos from their wedding.

Bouffant Debutante

With Beverly Hills as my backdrop, I decided to go with a Winter Parisian theme for my next shoot. The team and I decided to go with the theme of 80s mod bouffant-tressed damsel and the rest was history.

couples | lidia + tito

Christmas is near and it’s portrait time! Lidia and Tito showed up nicely dressed along with their Yorkshire terrier, Coffee, who was groomed and dressed in a gingham collar shirt and sweater vest… really adorable! I brought them some balloons and got the show started 🙂

Lidia and Tito are such a sweet couple 🙂

wedding | tashina + james

Out-of-the-box and wild would be a way to describe Tashina and James’ wedding. Their wedding in Folsom was simple but one speckled with little surprises all over… The cake, being one of my favorites!

Tables for the reception dinner were lined with hot pink and surprise hints of cheetah and zebra print. Chinese fighting fishes were the center pieces along with animal crackers and bright lollipops. On the fences that enclosed the wedding area, there were frames with wildlife animals from around the world. Trees ornamented with white circle lanterns and colorful paper cranes provided shade over the ceremony area. The decoration is all of which that portrayed Tashina’s love for animals and animal print. The detail that really caught my eye was a surprise cake-topper that James had custom painted to perfectly portray him and Tashina!

Cheers to a lovely wedding and congrats to Tashina and James!

Traveling

Time flies too quick sometimes. I remember quite clearly when it was just February and I had booked a wedding in Costa Rica and am now just realizing tomorrow I will be on a plane on my way there. Although I had not initially planned on an international trip this year, I somehow managed to go on one regardless. I am not complaining as I am very excited as I will be covering a wedding for an accredited IMDb cinematographer while I am out there as well.

The rest of this year will be mostly travel, as I will be heading to Los Angeles, CA and Orlando, FL after my trip in Costa Rica. It will be a nice end to 2010 after working long hours every week/weekend since April.

To all my current and prospective clients, I will be be traveling and unavailable on the following dates:
November 9-21, 2010 — Costa Rica
December 2-6, 2010 — Los Angeles, California
December 20-29, 2010 — Orlando, Florida
