the art of tea

Most people have their cup or four of coffee a day, and we have our tea to give us our sweet smiles 🙂

We had the wonderful opportunity to work with Thao Tea Company on their brand launch by doing some lifestyle and product photos. The branding, packaging and identity was designed by one of our talented wedding clients, Thuy, who was so sweet to refer us. Much love out to her, the lovely ladies at Thao Tea and to tea.

nike union street

Nike opened a new retail store in the heart of San Francisco on Union Street to serve athletes throughout the community on May 17, 2014 and we were there to capture some images for their launch campaign, some of which are up in the store 🙂

The design of Nike Union Street embraces local connections and offers ongoing group training experiences geared towards women, like Run Club on Mondays and Saturdays, High Intensity Training on Wednesdays, Girl’s Night in Workouts, and weekend yoga classes. The new store also has services including head-to-toe styling, bra-fitting, pant-hemming, run analysis, access to NIKEiD, weekly Nike+ Run Clubs, and Nike Training Club classes with partner gyms, like Soul Cycle, and other locations in the surrounding neighborhoods.

the head shot

When it comes to head shots, sometimes all you need to do is take a deep breath and smile. It’s natural to tense up in front of the camera sometimes, but all you really need to do is let loose your personality and the rest is easy 🙂 For this session, Brian did great following through with direction and some squinching (a term that portraitist Peter Hurley coined, although it’s an actual word in the dictionary, for the action of squinting your eyes in such a way as to portray confidence and self-assurance as opposed to the fear and uncertainty that you project when you stare wide-eyed at the camera) so we got through three wardrobe changes in half and hour.

food kicks

Doesn’t that Chicago dog combo from Fletch’s look delicious?
Recently, we had the opportunity to work with several small businesses in San Mateo and some of you may recognize some places. As many know, we’ve been in our necks with a busy wedding season, so it was definitely nice to switch gears and do some fun commissioned commercial work. Lots of the small businesses were restaurants and it was hard to keep our appetites at bay. Check out some of our favorites shots from the project!

Located in Beverly Hills, is quaint but stylish Shades Salon. Their specialty: hair coloring. I was in Beverly Hills a few weeks ago and was asked to come in and shoot some images for their new website, which I was more than delighted to do.
