Boudoir – Puppy Love

Of all the boudoir sessions in preparation for the big rush on Valentine’s day, this was one of my favorites. Toby, the dog in the tie and hat, was the star of the show. He was by far one of the easiest dogs to shoot. Very well-behaved. You tell him to sit. He sits. You put a tie on him. He sits tall with a tie on him. We even put boxers on him at one point, to which the laughter was too much to bear.

Shades Salon

Located in Beverly Hills, is quaint but stylish Shades Salon. Their specialty: hair coloring. I was in Beverly Hills a few weeks ago and was asked to come in and shoot some images for their new website, which I was more than delighted to do.

Modern-day Muse

The road up the hill was windy. The heat was sweltering. So much so that you could sweat even with the AC blasting in the car.
“What about here?” she said.
“Perfect!” I replied as I pulled up to the side of the road. Megan got out and immediately walked up to the horses while I got my gear out of my trunk.
“Ooo… you’re just the sweetest creatures.” Megan says as she pulls one of the horses’ faces close to hers as if she were kissing a boy. “I wish you could come home with me old boy.” She continues talking and I start shooting…

This is how I first met Megan. The photos from that day came out great. The photos of her today, still come out great. So begins my topic on muses. Every photographer has one. Mine is Megan.

My most recent photo of Megan.

It has always been a pleasure to shoot with her and the adventures have been very random and endless… (including shoots with chickens, tall trees, and tiny mice… oh my.) Megan has been a great inspiration to me, as a person and as a friend. I sometimes think I am hanging out with Snow White when I’m with her. Animals seem to have this affinity to her. It is almost ridiculous.

Cheers to you, Megan!

F/U: Newsworthy

Consider DIY “Project: Newsworthy” complete. Thanks to the local coffee shop for saving several days worth of newspaper for me 🙂 I have succeeded in making recycling appear so good-looking. I used the “Newsworthy” theme for one of my upcoming fashion spreads. Took some time to set up and no glue necessary. And the finished product:

Also makes for the perfect backdrop for my next ad campaign. Sweet!

Newsworthy

Newspaper wallpaper. Found this while doing some inspiration research for my next spread. It makes me think that my room is in need of a makeover modification. Things to go on the weekend warrior project list. 😉

“HOW TO FAB YOUR WALLS
It’s all about experimenting with what you’ve got. Look around your space, or a friend’s. You can use almost anything:

Pages from an old book: I couldn’t sell back my outdated Norton Anthologies, so I’m prepping those wafer thin pages to cover a column in 17th century poetry. There’s like, 2000 pages in all.

Postcards from the edge: If you’re someone whose friends and family travel to ooh-la-la places and send good pics, use them.

Greeting cards: Sort them by dominant color, (cut them up if you’re not sentimental) and create your own David Hockney-esque masterpiece

CDs/DVDs: You don’t really need that outdated Windows Install CD do you? Declutter as you design by taking those cast-off CDs from home and the office and paint them to create a geometric border or wall treatment. It will look like, totally groovy.

Sheet music: So lyrical and artsy

Office swag: If you’re the type to bring work home, why not do something cathartic with those oh-so-colorful TPS reports? Or try business cards

Los Angeles, I’m Yours

It’s Friday night and here I am… of course, editing and semi-watching music videos online. Tonight it’s The Decemberists cameo on my computer screen. “Los Angeles, I’m Yours” is quite fitting for the time being, as I wish I were there right now.

Music and visual arts has always been a greater part of my life and without them, I think I would be a piece of balsa wood, flat and completely unrandom. It has never failed to transport me to unknown places, imagine unknown faces, and invoke emotions and memories once thought lost… even lull me to sleep even after the most hectic days. It’s nice to just sometimes close your eyes and drown yourself in melody.

Away We Stay

This has to be one of my favorite short films that I’ve seen recently, featuring two of my all-time favorite models, Helena Christensen and David Gandy. If only it were turned into a television series…

This short film (“Away We Stay”) was beautifully written and directed by Edoardo Ponti. It was shot on location in Leicester Square. It is ” a romantic tale of love, life and the choices we make in the middle…”
Helena and David have the perfect chemistry on set and they are extremely gorgeous people. It leaves you wanting to see more of what’s to come. It’s perfect.
